On Wed. May 16th, 2012 the UN Special Rapporteur on The Right To Food released a report on the food security issues that Indigenous Peoples across Canada face. The preliminary talks in this report have focused on climate change affecting the Traditional food resources in the North, resource development affecting hunting and fishing lands, and of course, the most obvious one - poverty being a main contributor to food access. This seems to be a pretty straight forward report. Many Chiefs, Non-Profit leaders, etc. seem to agree with the straight forward findings of this report - BUT - the Conservative government, namely, our National Health Minister, Leona Aglukkaq, dismisses the whole thing.
